Apps That Will Help You Create Content (Free and Paid)

June 23, 2024

So, you’ve just started your online business endeavor. It could just be a hobby, or maybe it’s part of your plan to achieve financial freedom. Whatever it is, editing the content that represents you or your brand is more than half the battle, and in a world where time is money, you need to have the right tools to help you achieve your dreams in a timely fashion.  Even if you have a team behind you ready to work or you’re riding solo, this article aims to share the best apps that will help you organize and create content.

Notion

Write, plan, organize, play. That is Notion's slogan, and they deliver on every one of those aspects and more. Their platform is used to essentially organize your online life. You can do everything from managing projects, taking notes, saving contacts, planning events, and even running an entire company. So, if you have a lot on the go and feel a bit overwhelmed with having your information saved in many different places, Notion can fix that and keep it all organized in one centralized hub. The question isn’t what can you do on Notion; it’s what can’t you do on Notion? With so many great tools to help creators and brands, it’s a fantastic app you can use for free on your laptop and phone, with options to upgrade if needed.

Canva

Possibly the most user-friendly graphic design platform out there? Don’t get me wrong, I’m an avid user of Adobe, but its products come with a price tag and a very steep learning curve. If you’re just looking to create quick images and ads within the hour, then Canva is for you. They offer a free service, but in my humble opinion, upgrading to Canva Pro is definitely worth the price. It allows you to make and edit website templates, photos, videos, whiteboards, documents, and really anything that you would ever need to run a business. One of the most significant upsides to Canva is its effortless options for resizing your content to fit any social media platform. Changing your 16:9 horizontal ad to an Instagram-friendly 9:16 format in seconds.

Later

Later is a social media scheduling tool designed to help individuals and businesses efficiently manage their social media presence across multiple platforms. It features a visual content calendar, allowing users to quickly drag and drop posts into specific time slots, and supports various platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, and LinkedIn. This enables you to post on social media every day without actually manually posting every day. Later's media library allows users to upload, organize, and store photos and videos for easy access. This tool also offers advanced scheduling and automation, ensuring consistent content delivery, along with analytics and insights to track performance and refine strategies.

Additionally, the Linkin.bio feature creates a clickable landing page for Instagram, driving traffic to specific web pages, and its collaboration capabilities allow multiple users to work together seamlessly. Overall, Later simplifies social media management, enhancing efficiency and saving time. Offering a both free and paid version, you can test out if Later is right for you.

Tezza

Tezza is a popular photo and video editing app designed to help users easily enhance their social media content. The app offers many features, including filters and presets for a professional look, essential editing tools like cropping and adjusting brightness, contrast, and saturation, and pre-designed templates for cohesive content creation. Users can add effects and overlays such as grain, dust, and light leaks, as well as text, stickers, and graphics. The main reason we love Tezza is because it also supports batch editing, which allows the same edits to be applied to multiple photos and videos simultaneously, saving time and ensuring consistency. This ensures you can maintain your brand image across various platforms. Additionally, the app provides tutorials and inspiration boards to help users maximize their editing experience and stay updated with the latest trends.

CapCut

Offering a desktop version and a mobile version for on-the-go, CapCut has become a staple in the industry when it comes to short-form video content. Remember when I said time is money? Similar to other apps such as Imovie and InShot, the reason we’re giving CapCut the crown for now is because of its auto-captioning feature (speech-to-text), which, believe me, saves content creators so much time and effort. Vice versa, they also offer text-to-speech to add narration over gameplay and other informational videos. Being closely related to TikTok, the app also helps you create short and long-form videos for Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Meta, you name it.

Loom

Loom is an app that allows you to screen record your device with the option to add a floating head where people can see and hear you talk about what you’re doing. This is especially important for those who create YouTube videos and even have digital courses available for purchase; Loom will simplify your life. Even taking it a step further, this platform is a great way to help teach a new member of your team what to do. You can show someone how to do the task at hand and send them a link to your video for quick and easy access. This leaves the viewer with options to react, comment, or even playback the video. This is an excellent alternative to an early morning meeting where everyone is still in their pyjamas, thinking about their next cup of coffee. They can watch the video on their own time and playback the video if they get stuck during their work process.

LTK

LTK, formerly known as LIKEtoKNOW.it, is a social commerce platform that connects content creators with consumers. It allows influencers, bloggers, and other content creators to share shoppable content, enabling their followers to purchase products directly through links shared in their posts. LTK provides tools for content creators to monetize their influence by earning commissions on sales generated through their affiliate links.

The platform supports a wide range of categories, including fashion, beauty, home decor, and lifestyle products. Users can discover products by following their favorite creators and can shop directly through the LTK app or website. This is great for creators who showcase vintage clothes; they can easily share products through the platform that are the same or very similar to what they purchased. LTK aims to streamline the shopping experience by making it easy for consumers to find and buy products they see in social media posts.

Hootsuite

Similar to Later, Hootsuite is a social media management platform designed to help users efficiently manage multiple social media accounts, schedule posts, and track performance from their dashboard. Supporting all the leading social channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest, Hootsuite enables users to control all their social accounts in one place. It offers post-scheduling capabilities, allowing users to maintain a consistent online presence without being active all the time. Content curation features help users discover and share relevant content, keeping their feeds engaging and up-to-date. Detailed analytics and customizable reports provide insights into social media performance, tracking metrics like engagement, reach, and follower growth. Team collaboration tools enable coordinated social media strategies, with team members able to assign tasks, review posts, and communicate within the platform. Real-time monitoring and engagement features allow users to track social media activity and promptly respond to mentions, comments, and messages, enhancing audience interaction and customer service. Additionally, Hootsuite ensures account security through user permissions, approval workflows, and compliance with industry regulations. Widely used by businesses, marketers, and social media managers, Hootsuite streamlines social media operations, enhances efficiency, and maximizes the impact of social media efforts.
